As a member of the Masters/ Advanced team in question, I’d like to hopefully resolve a misunderstanding.

Our original masters team, Simba’s Pride, had 3 members: Husband (K), myself, and wonderful friend (D) who has since moved to Florida. Our masters win was when I was 7 months pregnant with kid #1.

We did play a handful of times as a masters team when our kids were not old enough to play as full team members (minimum age 6.) We never finished first in any of these games, if I remember correctly.

When our kids approached team member age, we reached out to Joe on whether the 4 of us (2 masters, K and I, and 2 kids) would be masters or a separate team. He indicated that we would be a separate team with that configuration of players (half or less of the team are masters), so we registered, paid, and competed.

I play this game because I love the game, whether as a masters or a competitive/ advanced team. If Joe and team decide that we aren’t eligible to register and play as advanced, we would accept that decision and happily register as a masters team.

1) Different strokes for different folks and all that. Our team found Soul – the quest at the Monsters Ride – to be one of the easier ones of the day. Different teams will find different things difficult – and isn’t a degree of difficulty the point anyway? I personally find it a bit odd to be telling the game creators how difficult a quest can be.

2) You said upfront that you are not on an Advanced team so I’m not sure why you would be concerned with the make-up of those teams. We are an Advanced team, which also has been playing for many years, and we have no problem with the structure of the team in question – it follows the rule for new teams. I think it’s wonderful for a family to be close enough that teens would want to spend a day solving puzzles with their mom and dad, but all that aside, the game creators get to call the shots. If you disagree with the shots they’re calling, perhaps it would be better to discuss it with them directly rather than trying to rile up dissent on the public forum.

One other feedback complement – I personally really liked that all trivia questions were tied to the theme of the game.

Came here to see if anyone was talking about how obscure/difficult it was to find the ACTUAL solution to several of this game’s quests. In the past the decoded text at least has nudged you in the right direction. I feel like the puzzle should be the hard part, not finding the final answer.
