Pixie Dust Dash Digest

On August 24 we introduced a new event to our MouseAdventure fans: Pixie Dust Dash. Played at night with a shorter, 3-hour event time, Pixie Dust Dash also used shorter, riddle-like clues rather than longer quests to lead teams to a final answer. Final results were time-based, with added time for incorrect or skipped answers and subtracted time for identification of eye spy photos.

For the first Pixie Dust Dash, teams started out at the picnic area to solve 15 challenges that took them to the Disneyland Resort hotels, Downtown Disney, and Disneyland Park. Unlike a typical in-park MouseAdventure, teams were allowed to use smartphones. Some challenges even required them to take pictures of their team at specific locations.

For example, challenge 14 read: Find a vehicle from a yesterland ride that was never used at Disneyland. Don’t get too close to the Edge. Head back to the Trail and find this four-word location where you can join your amigo valiente. The yesterland ride is the Stagecoach, but the vehicle outside of an entrance to Galaxy’s Edge actually comes from Knott’s Berry Farm. If you turn around from there and walk toward the Rainbow Ridge Trail, you will find a wooden shelter with a mural inside advertising the U.S. Cavalry where you can find a “courageous friend.”

All answers were entered into a team-specific webpage via smartphone, allowing the Third Gate Games team to keep track of everyone’s progress as the night went on. It also allowed for very quick turnaround on grading, with results tallied within 30 minutes of the event’s end.

Full results for all teams are available online.

Answers to the challenges are below. If you couldn’t join us for our inaugural event, we hope to see you at the next one!

  1. Super fun event.

Wow, did our team totally miss #2 (among others). There is a blue teacup in the window of the World of Magic shop in Downtown Disney (I think Mickey and Minnie are in it), and there were selfie walls nearby there. So we took our selfie in front of the “haunted” looking wall.

Also, would love to hear where the heck #9 was. We looked in so many windows.
